Approach

Most people tell me they hate having their photograph taken. Children will not pose, and grown-ups have usually decided in advance that they are not photogenic. I take that as the starting point rather than a problem: we talk, the children play, and I photograph what actually happens between you.

The pictures are warm, colourful and lightly edited. I am not interested in smoothing people into somebody else, so what you get back looks like your family, or like you on a day you felt good, and it will still look that way in ten years.

I work from Aberdeen across Aberdeenshire, Angus and the rest of Scotland: on the beach, in the woods, in your own front room, or in the studio. Family sessions, personal brand shoots and headshots all start the same way, with a conversation.
